Rachmaninov Preludes (selection)
Chopin              Études, Op. 25

What is Sunday Morning Piano?
Enjoy an hour of great music in the company of some of the most exciting stars of the piano. Our Sunday Morning Piano series offers a rich mix of classic works and rare gems, from Chopin to Ethel Smyth. Ticket price includes tea, coffee and cake before or after the concert.

A BBC New Generation Artist and named as ‘one to watch’, Tom Borrow begins the New Year with two great masterworks that demonstrate the foundations and development of piano writing. Rachmaninov composed his Preludes over 18 years, and they reflect his changing compositional style, from the lush Romantic textures of his earlier pieces, to the leaner, clearer writing of his late works. Each is a standalone masterpiece, which can also be said of Chopin’s Op. 25 Etudes. Exquisite character pieces in one sense, they’re also regarded by pianists as the pinnacle of technique.
