An Eco-Entertainment
Don’t miss the world premiere of a witty new recycled opera. Sir David Pountney skilfully assembles Henry Purcell’s music to create a fantastical tale of power and the demise of the planet. Brace yourself as a tyrannical climate-denying ruler unleashes chaos on the planet until an eco-warrior arrives to save the day. But can nature fight back?
Inspired by the ‘masque’ (the 17th century equivalent of a variety show!) expect a unique performance of song, dance and spectacle. Taking place on a repurposed set, featuring re-used costumes and props, this recycled opera is the star of Opera North’s Green Season.
